Dangerous Goods
Inside the Port of HaminaKotka you must follow current security regulations, which are based on regulations for transporting hazardous materials and dangerous goods for bulk cargo (IBC code, BCH code) and for unitized cargo (IMDG code) and on liquid fuels and prevention of pollution from ships (Marpol 73/78).
In the liquid cargo terminal you must follow the recommendations from the International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers & Terminals (ISGOTT, valid). In addition, the port regulations from the cities of Hamina and Kotka and from Hamina Oil Terminal are also applied.
Operator, agent or master of ship and the shipper of the cargo or its loader must know the security standards and ensure that the personnel of the vessel and the operator are informed and implementing them.
Harmful Substances carried in Packaged Form under IMDG Code
Transporting and storing harmful substances in packaged form must be done both in the port and in ships in accordance with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) SOLAS treaty’s annex (IMDG Code). Packages must be marked with stickers compliant with the code. Safety standards have instructions and regulations for giving information prior to shipping about transporting harmful substances carried in packaged form and for permitted groups of goods.
Issues concerning transportation of dangerous materials are handled by Port of HaminaKotka Ltd's Chief of Security.
